bici-almeria is different to most cycle tours set ups ... i run it and i am just a regular road bike road guy who enjoys a trip away with good company, great weather and most of all fantastic roads with as little traffic as possible

after many years of self-organised trips with friends to the traditional venues for riding holidays - the alps, ventoux, the pyrenees, riccione, girona, etc i decided to arrange a trip for myself and a mate in february a few years ago now

where could we go? it had to be warm, have quiet roads, nice hotels, good food and decent hills - i decided on almeria as i had been there on holiday and thought at the time it would make a great place to ride my bike

the trip was sensational and the first seed of bici-almeria was sown - some of the photos in the gallery are from that first ever almeria tour - the roads were often deserted, the surfaces brilliant, stunning descents, plenty of long climbs at gradients between 5-10%, lots of excellent places to stay and visit ... in all it is the ideal place for a roadie to go for a week of riding in the depth of the british winter

so bici-almeria was born in 2008 with the aim to provide a sample of the real almeria to real cyclists
